The food was very good and the service fine but it was really noisy. Bar and restaurant in same area and happy hour was in progress.
Great place to meet up with old friends have a bit to eat and a drink or two to talk about the old days.
They've done a lot to update the interior from the rustic restaurant decades ago, but as Antonio's stops serving at 9 pm, we had dinner here and I'd suggest you keep it simple. The burger and the calamari were our best choices. Prime rib was 1/3 fat at $27, to which the waitress remarked, "it's good for you." Shrimp in white sauce was bland. Highlight was the interior and the 10 pm hometown karaoke like something you might have seen on the 90's TV show Northern Exposure.
I was going to go to a different restaurant for dinner on a Sunday but it was closed so I opted to try the Howey Bay Motel and Restaurant. I ordered the Walleye dinner and it was fabulous. I was in Red Lake and returned here 2 more times to have the same meal over three evenings. The other restaurant was very good as well (went there Monday) but the atmosphere and the selection of "beer on tap" kept me coming back to the Howey. The staff in the restaurant works like a well tuned team - from the kitchen staff to the servers - WOW - great job - even the owner helped. Boy, a lot of restaurants could learn a lot from this team! The outside isn't going to grab your attention but apparently a new sign will nicely guide you to the establishment within the next week (July 18th or 25th week). Check it out - you will not be disappointed! By the way, the breakfast was delicious and the restaurant was packed on each of the evenings I was there. Doug Brown
