Speckled Hen Cottage Pub - Reading

We had an excellent dinner here on a Friday night. The service was fantastic, and the short ribs were incredibly tender with amazing flavor. My husband's filet was cooked to perfection. Don’t wait for special occasions to visit this restaurant; it’s too good to enjoy just a few times a year.

We were delighted when we arrived, completely unaware of this hidden gem in downtown Reading. This 18th-century establishment is fantastic, and both the food and the staff are exceptional in every aspect. We can't wait to go back!

I visited this charming pub for the first time and I'm happy to report that it did not disappoint! Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Judy, the owner, who made us feel right at home as she started a fire in the cozy fireplace. The waitstaff was very friendly, and the quality of the menu options was impressive! On our next visit, we're looking forward to dining upstairs at Judy's on Cherry!

Nice place to eat. Friendly staff with good food. Scotch eggs and Shepard pie are winners. Prices are reasonable as well.

We very much enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. Very rustic with two working fireplaces. The staff was very attentive. The food was okay but nothing to write home about. I decided to go with the seafood mac and cheese. I had noticed that four other guests had ordered it and guessed that it was that good. I was extremely disappointed. There was no flavor to the dish and it appeared that some of the seafood was undercooked. We did enjoy the evening but it wasn't because of the food.
