Worth the drive no matter where you are to experience this no frills old school pool hall. When you walk down the stairs to this basement establishment you are stepping back in time. When I walked in the door I was greeted by the proprietor Doug Brink and big Bertha! Their claim to fame. A 100 year old 10 foot pool table built in 1913. Big Bertha was acquired by Doug's father in the early 1970's soon after he bought the pool hall. Doug was happy to rent me a rack of balls by the hour and share some of the history with me. No food , no bar and no gambling as I said no frills, a classic old fashion pool hall. You can bring your own food if you are so inclined. Smoking is allowed. I can't imagine that there are too many of these type of joints surviving today. Don't miss an opportunity to experience this classic the way your great great grandfather did!
I haven’t been to Raytown rec in 25 years. I still love the nostalgic scenery in the cool owners, Elijah and Doug Brink are the best. Cool /Layback atmosphere as always..??
