Seriously, though, the portions were enormous, the prices were really reasonable, the owner was friendly and welcoming, and the house fries were fantastic – thinly sliced with onions and green peppers, perfectly seasoned. My friends ordered an omelette so large they needed a cart to carry it away! Some of the photos on the wall showcased a wedding that took place here, and everyone in those pictures looked so happy!
For a coffee shop, it's quite good. The walls are adorned with photos of famous people and various plates. I ordered a tuna sandwich on white bread; it was fresh and a decent size. I also got a bowl of homemade soup, and at $2.60, the portion was quite generous. It was a delicious tomato-based hamburger penne soup. My partner had a white bean soup that was just as tasty, although he wasn't thrilled with his avocado hamburger. Our friend tried a tuna melt sandwich and a salad. I would recommend the soup over the salad—it's a much better deal and far more flavorful. Overall, I would say that for the price, it's a worthwhile stop.
I find myself dining here at least once a week for three main reasons. Firstly, while the menu is compact, it’s more than adequate, featuring good old-fashioned comfort food. The meals may not be visually stunning, but they're consistently delicious and incredibly affordable. The breakfast portions are enormous, ensuring that you'll definitely leave satisfied. Secondly, the service is quick and efficient. Even though the diner is small, you almost never have to wait, allowing you to enjoy your meal and get on with your day without any delays. Lastly, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The owners are genuinely friendly and make an effort to remember their customers. They greet you like an old friend and remember your usual order. It creates a lovely neighborhood vibe with owners who truly care about their patrons. On some nights, they even treat you to a complimentary strawberry shortcake dessert with your meal! In a world of impersonal, high-turnover chain restaurants, Stevie Dee stands out as a delightful little gem that not only fills your stomach but also warms your heart.
