Cornerstone Cafe - Rainier

We have visited this restaurant many times in the last two years and we really like it. The service is great, everyone is treated equally. There are a lot of regular customers and the food is consistently good. I have tried many items on the menu and have ordered various drinks, and have never been disappointed. I have brought many people here to eat with us and they have also enjoyed the service and the food.

Jaime was a fantastic server. She was the only one working until 9 o'clock, but she did a wonderful job with every table: always smiling, patient, and attentive. She even knew some of the regular customers by name and showed concern for everyone. She always thanked the patrons for their patience. When Genf came in, she was also a great worker like Jaime - always smiling, warm, and positive. These qualities were evident in all the staff whenever we went for lunch or dinner. The food was delicious, and we appreciated that they offered protein omelettes without deep-fried breakfast fries. The chefs definitely know what they are doing. Corner Cafe is a special place with a cozy, local atmosphere.

I had heard wonderful things about this restaurant, so I drove all the way from Longview to try it out. When I arrived and took a seat, a server came to our table. However, we waited for 25-30 minutes without being offered a drink. Despite the fact that there were only about 6 tables occupied and it wasn't a busy day, there seemed to be more servers in the restaurant than there were customers. Unfortunately, the servers were just standing around doing nothing.

As serious connoisseurs of Biscuits Gravy, we seek out restaurants that serve them. Cornerstone Cafe makes The Absolute Best Biscuits Gravy that my hubs and I have ever had.On top of that, in always on the lookout for great hash browns. Many places lift them off the griddle before a nice crust forms, and they're thick, so the texture is very soft like lumpy mashed potatoes. Bleh ? Not my thing.This lovely cafe presses them thin as they cook so they have a nice crispy crust, crunchy edges, and an almost creamy interior.Their hash browns are perfect.Kim, our server, was fantastic. While taking our order, the folks at the table closest to us accidentally tipped over their water and Kim was able to spring into action to quickly get the water and ice under control while preventing us from feeling interrupted or abandoned. And when our food arrived, she frequently checked on us and kept our coffee cups hot full.(The coffee was the only disappointment, but we're coffee people like our coffee really strong.)We stopped here on a drive from Portland to Astoria and loved this place so much that we're looking forward to making the hour drive from Portland to Rainer to get brunch on weekends. Totally worth the drive. ?Love this cafe.
