Had not booked anywhere for evening meal and stumbled across this little treasure in a desperate search in these trying times! What a find! The service was friendly and prompt, and the ambience lent further charm to an amazingly good meal. The house was very old and had been frequented by T.E. Lawrence....! Very pleasant memory.
The weather was lovely and we would have liked to have sat out by the river but the area is used as a car park and we did not want to sit overlooking cars so we walked up the high street and stopped a local lady and asked her for a recommendation and she suggested The Anglebury House. We walked there and it was a charming old property. We sat in the walled garden and enjoyed scones and cream and delicious italian coffee.
We've eaten here twice this week now while on a trip away from the kids. First day we popped in for some cream teas which were beautiful. We came back again for our last evenings dinner and it was perfect. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the menu was diverse yet simple and the food was delicious. I hd the duck with rice and my wife had the chicken pasta followed by the sticky toffee pudding. Couldn't fault anything and would definitely recommend to anyone travelling to Wareham.
Following a very enjoyable boat trip in Wareham we had planned for a late-ish lunch. Seven of us (including children). After being turned away from one of the pubs nearer the quay as they would soon be stopping serving, we spent a while looking for somewhere else. Eventually reached Anglesbury House, where they smiled, welcomed us in and served us excellent food in good sized portions and good value. Would highly recommend them.
