After having a decent breakfast months ago we decided to give them a try for lunch. BEWARE....it was the worst lunch we have had in 7 years since we moved here. From the grey slimy side salad, to raw served chop steak and reconstituted mashed potatoes, grease pit slimy and over burnt tasting fries nothing worse could have topped the Reuben sandwich. I have not had an aftertaste like that since chemotherapy. No joke. It had a very very very thin of one (1) piece of meat and was so soggy from oil it was like a oil drenched rye bread sandwich with something resembling 1000 island and kraut. I combined the meat from one half to the other so I could try and taste the meat but after 3 bites I said forget it. Good thing as they served my friend a raw chop steak. When we sent it back they microaaved the whole plate including the only eatable thing, the bread. If your a quart low on oil this place is for you. We will definitely NOT return. Waitress was friendly but not enough to jeopardize your intestines or tastebuds.
The staff was friendly and the place was clean, but the food wasn't very good, we left most of it. The pancakes tasted like raw flour, the biscuits could have been day old, the potatoes were brown and soggy burned with oil. The side of the fruit was great and the sausage links were pretty good. We ordered two mommas breakfast a ton of food we could have split up.
The other servers seemed friendly, but ours were not very. I don't remember his name, but he had rings in both ears. The bacon and cookies were delicious! The Hash Browns on the other side... I hope honestly, you are only limited in what you can do through the storm. I hope this is not an ordinary thing for your facility to serve muddy raw hashbrowns. On top was the smallest piece of golden snack. That's it. The rest was completely white, raw and muddy. If you literally enter Hash Browns in Google and click images, you will see the difference between your and the standard. 99 percent of these pictures mostly show golden hash browns with a small part of white in the middle. That's the standard. Raw potatoes contain solanin that can cause headaches, nausea, diarrhea and even death in extreme cases. I know they can cook a little longer, but the health of your girls should come before tables turn.
From the beaten path. We were on our way home (SE Florida from the Tampa area and we're looking for a breakfast on the way. We found this place on our Google search and decided to take the 6 additional minutes to our itinerary in the hope to have a quality breakfast experience. Y'all alternative was to go to the cracker barrel right next to the Interstate and possibly minimize the breakfast delay time to get home. We had our chances and we were not disappointed! John Ski 's Breakfast Lunch House is one of the throes places that make it a destination, and not just a stop. From the moment you go, you recognize it's the brain child of someone who serves people with high-quality good food at reasonable prices, and ensure fun at the same time, a vocation. I like the restaurant to one of the places you see on shows like Food Paradise or on Man versus Food. You can see from my pictures, it's fun, energetic and a good mood overall. What you can't see is how good the food tasted, the incredible service (the waiter brought my straw packaging between refills- l love when they do that!, and the feeling that you get when a owner invests fully in the idea, he designed to create an excellent fun breakfast and lunch experience. My wife and I were very satisfied with all aspects of our experience. The food was very delicious - I had the mother Ski 's special and Lisa had the eggs Benedikt dish. We shared the food and honestly, I couldn't tell who was better, how both were great. I had many pancakes left, because the portions they give you were ridiculously large. The bacon was delicious- crispy and delicious. The eggs were cooked as ordered. The Diet Coke had the right mixture of carbonate and syrup. There is a wall of fame for those who can meet the breakfast challenge. The bathrooms were clean (see pictures and the cooks really work hard to get the food in time. We have really enjoyed our experience and recommend you take the time to go from I-75 when you are in the Punta Gorda area; it is worth the additional 6 minutes to get there!
