フィードバックを提供するWe stayed in room #9, which was very comfortable and had everything we needed for a one-night stay. The water in Somerset County has a brown hue, but this is normal and not the inn's fault. They provide plenty of bottled water in the room for those who prefer not to use tap water. We had dinner at the tavern and it was fantastic. The building is very old, built before America was founded, so some stairs and areas of the floor are slanted, which is to be expected. We heard that this place is rumored to be haunted, so we'll have to see! We would definitely stay here again.
We did not stay at the inn, but we dined at the restaurant with a group of 6 people. Unfortunately, every water glass we were given was dirty. The complimentary bread was fresh, but the olive oil that accompanied it was heavily seasoned and not appealing. For appetizers, we ordered calamari, crab dip, and crab soup. The calamari was undercooked, and while the crab soup had good flavor, it was not hot enough. The dip was tasty. For our entrees, we had pasta with chicken, shrimp and grits, and a tavern burger. The shrimp and grits had a decent flavor, with well-cooked and seasoned shrimp, but the grits were inconsistent in temperature. Some parts were hot and delicious, while others were cool and lumpy. The burger was overcooked and lacked flavor, possibly due to being dry from overcooking. The fries were okay. The chicken pasta was a good temperature, but lacked flavor; everyone picked out the chicken and only ate a minimal amount of pasta. The wine selection was good, and our server Debbie was delightful. Overall, we were not impressed and would not go back, though we recognize that perhaps we caught them on a bad night. For the price, the food should have been much better and did not meet the expectations set by previous reviews.
The room at this Inn was a good size, but despite being recently renovated, it was on the dirty side. The pillows smelled of musty body odor, which lingered on my hair and skin. The Inn is unmanned after 3:00 pm, so guests are left on their own. The complimentary breakfast was good, as was the coffee. However, there was no refrigeration in the room and no ice machine in the Inn, making the complimentary water bottles in the room almost unbearable to drink on a 90+° day. We will be seeking alternative lodging on our next visit to the Eastern shore.
So close to 5 stars! Positives: Quaint, comfortable, best included breakfast( I had large blueberry pancakes, hubby had eggs, bacon, home fries and toast) Look under sink for hair dryer, almost missed it. Negatives: Musty smell, flat thin pillows, tanwater in toilet and shower. Rugs were a cream color that have seen better days.Tavern closes at 8 on Fridays. Had to findsomewhere else to get a drink and eats. Caesar?s pizza down the road had the best pizza! Bottom line: we?d stay again.
Was not sure what to expect. But to my surprise Everything was amazing. The atmosphere and setting placed me back to my grandparents old Eastern Shore home I spent my childhood in every Summer. The Tavern was something else....To not be home andget home cooked food. Not to mention our server Tom...He needs a raise???? His service and friendliness will jeep that placegoing. I did not get the Lady bartenders name but she stirs up a mean drink...Made me feel right at home Hands down before Itry to stay at the Ocean I will take the 45 min ride there to sleep in peace and comfort as if i was home
