Cafe Mardin - Portsmouth

The cafe felt grotty, table and chairs were greasy and the noise of the front of shop kitchen didn’t set a good atmosphere. The food was poor, the hash browns were soggy and when compressed oil filtered out, the egg white took over half the plate, the bacon was undercooked and the sausages were very cheap and absolutely awful. This was my first time here and it will be my last. I would not recommend the cafe.

I believe the owner is Middle Eastern Muslims and so are some of the staff so there is a halal option. When ordering sausages the waiter asked us if the sausages we ordered are the “normal” ones instead of saying pork which made us curious what meat it was or if Its something special/new. We asked…. the staff and a staff nearby (that was stuffing her mouth with pork) both replied saying pork! (They had the well yeah obviously tone) well it’s not normal for everyone and they could have simply said pork. We only eat in this cafe because of our dietary requirements now we don’t know if we can come here anymore either thanks to these two pork obsessed lacking basic customer service staff ruined our experience.

My wife took me for Father’s Day and the service was terrible , 3 times we asked for toast and still not arrived and when we queried it the waitress said it was extra anyway , Poor attitude and ruined the morning , WE WONT GOING BACK and tell everyone we know not to go where the customer is not looked after.

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The staff were rude and disrespectful, showing no manners at all. When I arrived with a few colleagues for a business meeting, we were completely ignored. The atmosphere of the cafe was subpar and the food was nothing to write home about. The customer service was a major disappointment, and the quality of the food matched that low standard. We will not be returning to this establishment.
