I often had to send multiple emails just to get answers to simple questions, and I waited over four weeks for responses because I wanted to be mindful of how busy the wedding industry can be. I had to follow up multiple times to receive an initial catering guide and then again for a response to my request for a personalized quote. The main contact I was working with then changed positions without informing me, which left me waiting for answers to my outstanding questions. The new person assigned to me was unaware of our venue and was mistakenly contacting the wrong one. Fortunately, I was then transferred to the HR director for our walk-through, who was wonderful and much more accommodating. Many items that my previous contacts had said were not possible were easily approved by her. She genuinely listened to our concerns and made an effort to understand our needs. However, when I was back in contact with one of my original points of contact, I felt uneasy about what to expect on the wedding day, as his responses had been inconsistent and lacking in detail. Despite asking several times for our layout in advance, my original contact did not send me the correct version until two days before the wedding. This left me in a panic, as I had to create a seating chart from scratch with no assistance from Spork, spending hours drawing layouts in Excel and organizing name tags while also preparing for welcome and rehearsal dinners. Another issue arose regarding our wedding leftovers. Traditionally, my family enjoys eating the leftover food together the next day while opening gifts. We were explicitly asked if we wanted our leftovers donated, and we confirmed that we wanted everything boxed up to take home. We even limited our guest count to 120, knowing only 106 would be attending. So, I was extremely upset to find out that the Spork staff had taken all the leftovers home at the end of the night, enough to feed 14 people. In summary, our experience with Spork Bytes wasn't entirely negative. They did deliver all the food and drinks as promised, which we are grateful for. However, I wouldn’t recommend them for weddings, as they might be better suited for more casual events.
I can’t praise Sporkbytes enough! They are an amazing company. We hired them to cater our wedding, allowing us to curate a buffet featuring dishes from our favorite Portland restaurants, and they exceeded our expectations. The ordering process was simple, communication was excellent, and everything felt so organized. Tim, the owner, even met us for a venue walkthrough. They were professional, reasonably priced, and a pleasure to work with, and the food was absolutely DELICIOUS. Many guests complimented how fantastic the food at our wedding was, which was such a refreshing change from the usual chicken and fish options. The staff were incredibly nice and handled all the cleanup. I would use Sporkbytes again in a heartbeat for any large events or parties!
Our menu was quite unique, as it involved coordinating with five different restaurants in Portland. Harrison led the charge, helping us design the menu and providing professional insights on how to manage our budget effectively. While we did end up slightly over budget (due to factors beyond anyone’s control), Harrison generously offered some additional items at no extra cost to help mitigate our final expenses and honored earlier pricing from the restaurants, even if their rates had increased since our last discussions. We genuinely looked forward to every meeting with Harrison! We opted for a BYOB setup for our open bar, and they expertly helped us forecast exactly how much alcohol we would need to purchase. For items we couldn’t source ourselves, Amee ensured we were fully covered by our wedding day, alleviating any last-minute scrambles within 48 hours of the event. Amee was a pleasure to work with, and it was a relief knowing she had every detail under control. The staff they provided for our wedding were exceptional—kind, respectful, and incredibly efficient. Our two bartenders were especially praised by our guests for their friendliness and for quickly serving over 130 people in mere minutes at the start of our cocktail hour. They created a lovely atmosphere and engaged with our guests beautifully. They even went above and beyond by staying almost an hour longer to help load up our cars with leftover alcohol, decor, and other items. When two staff members noticed we were overwhelmed with extra food, they kindly offered to take care of donating it, which was entirely unexpected but greatly appreciated. Working with SporkBytes made the entire experience remarkably stress-free—something almost unheard of in wedding planning. I felt completely at ease and placed my trust in them without any concerns. I cannot recommend SporkBytes and their entire team highly enough. I only wish we could have another wedding just to work with them again! Thank you, Harrison, Amee, and the entire SporkBytes Team!
Spork Bytes was great to work with. Everyone was very friendly, professional and quick to respond. The food was on time, very tasty and we produced so much less waste with the reusable containers! I look forward to working with Spork Bytes again soon!
Spork Bytes is a great company and provides easy catering for office lunches. I have worked with Harrison directly when ordering and he is an amazing asset to the team. He is always so helpful and very responsive.
