The Fig Tree - Port Elizabeth

The vegan vegetarian dinner was very satisfying. This restaurant, owned by a mother and daughter, is frequented not only by tourists but also by locals. The food was delicious and the plates were cleaned off completely.

Located at the end of the waterfront, this fantastic restaurant was worth the wait. Despite waiting an hour for our food, once it arrived, we were completely satisfied. We started with the callaloo soup, a Caribbean twist on spinach soup that was mild and delicious. The cream of split pea soup was nutty and slightly ginger-flavored, enhanced by the coconut milk. For our main course, we ordered the vegetarian dinner, which was actually vegan. It included a rich salad, Caribbean chickpea and plantain stew, vegetables, and mashed chickpeas. The owner's family even invited us to dance while we waited for our food. We had a great time and can't wait to come back. As we were leaving around 8 o'clock, a live band started playing Caribbean music, adding to the lively atmosphere of the restaurant.

At the end of the path on the water you will find this wonderful place. We had to wait for an hour to get our food, but once it came, we forgot everything. We had the Callalo soup, a Caribbean version of Spiniach soup, which was mild and tasty. We also ordered the cream of Split Pea soup, which was nutty and a little ginger, very tasteful with the coconut milk in it. For the main dish we had the vegetarian dinner (which is actually vegan) and it was rich and engaged salad, Caribbean-Kich-Bana stew and vegtable and mushed chick peas. The owner family invited us all to dance while we waited for food... we had a lot of fun and look forward to coming back! When we left (about 8 a.m.), a live band came to play covers with a Caribbean fan.

I visited the restaurant last night and ordered a delicious tofu dish with rice and salad. The meal was excellent and the staff were extremely helpful.
