We always make sure to visit a few times in the summer to enjoy a fish dinner by the water. Once again, we were not disappointed. We ordered the bass, pickerel, and shrimp dish. It was absolutely delicious and we devoured every bite. The service was friendly and we will definitely be returning in the future.
We used to frequent this restaurant weekly for years when Mary and Dave owned it. Prices have gone up, which is expected and comparable to other local restaurants. However, we were disappointed with the current management of the restaurant. The servers work very hard and are friendly, the food is good, but the wait times for service and food are terrible. We even saw two tables of people leaving without receiving their orders, with dirty dishes piling up on the tables. The restroom was also messy, with paper towels scattered on the floor and seemingly understaffed servers rushing around. In comparison, nearby Heie Beach offers slightly lower prices with consistently good service and food. Sadly, Hoover's seems to have lost its previously laid-back and "happy" atmosphere. Hopefully, the management will invest in hiring more employees to improve the overall experience.
Be not in a hurry. very slower service, 2 hours to get eat, boardline round server as if we harass them by asking for 1 1/2 hours if we could get our food. do not go back what is too bad because this spot is a precious stone.
This hidden gem is well known to area boaters, and a delightful surprise to those driving around the Port Dover area. The food is delicious, the view is terrific and the staff are outstanding
