Really cool cafe. Gorgeous views of the river, super spacious inside with outside seating too. The waffles were delicious and my partner said his green eggs and ham were amazing! If I lived closer I would go here way more often.
Came for my birthday today to show my husband, got there at 10am, two people awkwardly standing around the doors.. they were other customers. Who were trying to get in to order. We go to the door- opening hours 8am.. doors locked. No sign, no sign of people or life anywhere. They were shut. Thanks for the heads up. What a joke to not even have a sign up, we came out of our way to come for breakfast and closed without warning. Won't be returning, I forgave you last week when your clueless waitress told me "we kind of have a pie guy, but he comes when he wants".. meaning she had no idea when or if I could order a vegan pie ever.. but this is now second time burned. I work local and looks like you've lost a crew of lunch and breakfast diners now.
Lovely location, fabulous food. Visited Folklore cafe recently after my mum and aunts raved about it! It's right on top of the river and you can sit out on the deck or inside. The food was tasty, and creative. I shared the gingerbread waffles with caramelised orange sauce and figs and a vegetarian dish with added haloumi, but was tempted by the rest of the menu. The house baked beans were some of the best I've had in Adelaide. I'll definitely be back to try more!
I cannot rate Folklore Cafe enough! First of all the place is a beautiful sight, situated at Harts Mill over the wharf you get the most beautiful view of the Port River and you may even spy a dolphin or two! Because of its location the space is gorgeously filled with natural light making for the perfect place to relax. The cafe is also furnished with vintage and second hand gear but you never feel like you're amongst anything that's about to fall apart or dodgy; it's styled so perfectly. In the midst of everything Golden Gaytime, Folklore have waffles; honeycomb icecream, nuts and chocolate sauce. Delicious! You can't go past the haloumi burger which is very generous and comes with thin sweet potato crisps. I also recommend the fig and banana loaf if you're just after a snack. There's also a selection of fresh juices on offer alongside small tarts and brownies in the cabinet which appear to come from just over the road at Mayfair Bakery. How should I bring my baby in?: Hell you could bring them in a tractor and still have room. But don't do that. The entry has a smooth ramp and there is plenty of room to bring your pram and park in next to any table. I often come here with my toddler and whilst he does try to escape frequently there is plenty of room for them to sit and play on the floor over by the couches. Good old Ikea highchairs are available. We then make our way to the fabulous playground just next door.
