Porongurup Shop, Tearoom & Village Inn

We stayed nearby at Karribank which has no food to offer, therefore we were happy that the tearooms over the road were open for breakfast. We had a pleasant brekky by the fire as the weather was quite cold. All good (but I wouldn't recommend poached eggs) and nourishing food. Staff very friendly and the shop had some interesting gift purchases.

What a find! Cosy, warm and well equipped mud brick cottage behind the tea rooms. Had a great homely feel and great value. Di and Scott were very friendly, helpful hosts. The cottage is very well equipped and a quiet, peaceful haven for us in very severe weather conditions. Only intended to stay one night but stayed for two.

Tearooms at Porongurup is a terrific spot for lunch. Home-made local flavours and plenty of character.

We had the most amazing welcome to our little cottage out the back of this tearoom....2 kangaroos, a mother and her joey....we kept looking out the window for them for the rest of our stay, but unfortunately they didn't return. The cottage accommodation is pretty basic, but comfortable and has all that you need to cook breakfast and dinner. Just be aware that there is no mobile phone coverage unless you drive up the road and for the wifi...you need to go on safari to the tearooms and it is spotty at best. Di & Scott are very helpful hosts and it was nice to be out in the bush listening to the birds....and looking for kangaroos.

What a find! Behind the shop and tearooms are two self-contained cottages. Their modest exterior appearance belies a very comfortable and spacious interior. Everything with the exception of an iron/ironingboard is supplied including an outdoor washing machine and carport. We arrived with virtually no food expecting to find something in the shop that we could cook but there was little to choose from. However we were able to choose something from the tearooms menu and this was delivered to our cottage in the evening (meals $16-18). Our cottage was $100 p.n. We only stayed one night but the cottage was an ideal place to spend some time in the beautiful Porongurups.
