フィードバックを提供するCypress Nook looks like it's been around for decades, and I've found out it has for over 30 years. Outdoor seating on a patio, or an indoor, very old school casual, comfortable ambiance like you're dining in a family's living room. Even posters of 1936 Berlin Olympics are on the wall. Four of us stopped by for dinner. The German cuisine is traditional, hearty and heavy dining. Our Potato Pancakes appetizer was delicious, and the Giant Bavarian Pretzel with mustard was almost an entree itself. Our group shared hearty entrees family style. I thought the Sauerbraten Angus beef was overcooked and came out a bit tough. The Chicken Cordon Bleu was more successful, stuffed with Black Forest ham and Swiss cheese, topped with a lemon butter wine sauce. Yummy! My favorite entree was the Schweinshaxe Pork Shank. A huge 2 pound piece of meat, cooked tender and with a flavorful gravy. Almost as good as what I love in Berlin and Prague. I forgot to request it crispy, which is my favorite style, so I'll try crispy when I return. I liked all the side dishes, but the ones that stood out were the sauerkraut and red cabbage. Tasty and authentically German. Make sure at least one of those are your choices! Service staff felt like they were family, and we chatted with the co-owner (I think) for a bit. She's sweet as a großmutter!
Corey is our server , my first time here , So we had the special , which came with one appetizer your choice of one entrée and two sides, for $25 , yep ! So me of course had to have the pretzel which we ended up ordering a second because it was so good! We both chose the chicken schnitzel which was so Crispy full of flavor The chicken was super moist has a red cabbage and warm German potato salad as our side! We had a little one with us so she had the hotdog they were out of french fries but the hotdog was huge house was our serving sizes to all in all it was a fun experience , Cory was the only server and the place was getting a little busy but he did an excellent job so I have to say I would definitely be back
We have been coming here for many years for both breakfast and dinner and have never been disappointed. This place leads the way for German food in this area. 6 of us for dinner in a small place that you do feel comfortable in. We all start with their nice selection of German beers. We next ordered their large pretzel as we waited for our entrees to arrive. One large pretzel with their homemade cheese side and a German Frank was enough for everyone to taste and rave about. It usually doesn 't happen but 5 of us opted for the sauerbraten served with your choice of 2 sides. Everyone raved about the meal. One person ordered the weinerschnitzel and proclaimed it wonderful . We followed with sharing German chocolate cake and apple strudel. Both were great. This restaurant as usual did not disappoint.
As you move closer to the beach you find more expensive more pretentious breakfast venues. This is not one of them. Cypress Nook offers a hearty breakfast, more typically American than German but they do have a few traditional German options. I found their grits to be creamy and flavorful. The service is efficient and pleasant. One tip is that hey have outside dining on picnic benches with umbrellas. On a pleasant day you can enjoy your breakfast and coffee while dining al fresco. The restaurant appears to be located in what was once an old home.
I 've been coming here off and on over the last 30 years...but hadn 't been in quite some time. Seeing that they had yelp cash back, made the decision easier to try them again for an early dinner. And then we got there to find they had a Yelp check in offer of a free glass of wine or German beer. Score! We had a quite good meal. I felt bad for them, however, that on a Saturday night even though it was early we were the only patrons at that hour. I chose a schnitzel. They offer it in different ways even topped with an egg. You can also choose between veal, pork, or chicken. I chose the pork. The meat is pounded thin and lightly breaded. The jaeger schnitzel means mushrooms (my fave . It was topped with a rich brown sauce loaded with mushrooms, onions, and a few bacon pieces. For my sides you can choose two my go to is always spaetzel little bits of tasty fried dough and red cabbage for color and as my veggie . I think I can drink that brown sauce just on its own! Anyway, it was a large entree portion and I only was able to eat half of it taking the other half home. My husband had their schweinhaxe (sp? which is a huge pork shank on the bone. It requires a bit of work to peel off the crispy outside fat, etc. but the remaining meat is very tender. His sides were warm potato salad and red cabbage. His plate was empty at the end of the meal except for a bare bone. We also tried a bite of their German chocolate cake. Very decadent and rich. It was several moist layers including one of dense coconut. We took most of that home for a midnight or whenever snack.. Would we go back? Yes. Absolutely.
