La Cueva Cafe - POLIGNANO A MARE

Avoid at all cost. Tourist trap and we had to call the police to resolve a conflict with o a very unpleasant and pushy owner. My wife wanted to have a beer at this place, i didn't want anything. We sat at a table, asked her to order and went in to use the toilet, which by the way was terrible. Came back, the boy waiter who was trying to take our order didn't speak good English, so called the owner. He said we have to order two drinks of we want to seat at the table. Told him we only want a beer, and if that's not okay with him, we can leave. We ordered a beer, and they a 5.5 euro beer and a 7euro glass of wine, which i didn't order. I told them to take it back because i didn't order the wine and the owner said he doesn't care. I have to order another drink if i want to stay at the table. We got up and walked, the guy grabbed my hand and told me not to go anywhere. I called the police, they came. Explained we ordered only one beer and will not pay for something we didn't order. They said okay, paid for the beer and left this awful place Worst experience ever from all of my trips around the world.

We happened upon it, it's very inviting, comfortable seating. Our server was friendly and she joked around with us. The place was relaxed and the drinks were cold. Good location, steps from the sea view terrace. We enjoyed it so much, that we are going back today after our evening stroll.

The cocktails were absolutely terrible, passion fruit mojito taste nothing like passion fruit and was pink? Cosmo taste nothing like a cosmo and was dark purple? Asked to swap the 2 passion fruit mojitos for aperol spritz which they said was fine (and took them away) but when the bill came we were charged for the mojitos. When we asked them to adjust the bill they yelled at us and threatened to call the police if we didn’t pay. Terrible customer service and terrible drinks. Toilets were also grim. DO NOT GO!!!

This little cafe looked quite inviting with its stylish garden furniture surrounded by large pots with plants, so we went in for a coffee. We must admit that the coffee was really good, the service not so good. Unfortunately, the real disappointment was the toilet. It was way below average!

Slow service. Two tables near us served with complimentary snacks. Our round of drinks came with a scowl. Avoid.
