However the soup tasted like it was fresh out of a can. So it brought it down a star. We has soup and sandwich. The grilled cheese was great!And if my waist would hide the rest we would have bought a dozen cooked molasses. Other wise cute spot.

The Canape Cafe and Bakery is a hidden gem on Front Street in the town of Pictou, NS.Although it may be a little hard to find, the rewards are delicious. From baked goods to soups and sandwiches, every time I try something different it seems they have excelled themselves again.Try it yourself the next time you're in Pictou. Right next to Crown Pizza.

I stopped in for lunch at Canapé Cafe my first day in Pictou. I was treated with a welcoming smile and patience as I tried to choose just one of their sandwiches. I finally settled on the Lola on homemade wheat bread. I have never had chicken salad like this before and it was certainly wonderful. The fresh, thickly sliced whole wheat bread was wonderful, some of the best homemade bread I have ever eaten. You definitely want to eat here on your visit to Pictou.

Stopped by this place for lunch a couple times while in Pictou. Great little place for lunch. There's a nice range of sandwiches and the soup of the day is generally good.

We happened upon this great "bakery" while wandering downtown Pictou, hoping luck might lead us to a great lunch somewhere unplanned. And it was our lucky day! After checking out 3 other places, we peeked into this tiny spot at one end of town. Only a few tables fill the room, and lunch offerings are listed on the wall. The usual counter & display case provide the bakery touch. However, the food such as soup (cream of chicken with pasta) was homemade style, and the breads used for sandwiches were made there, delicious and nutritious! So many of the sandwich fillings sounded yummy, I was wishing we could come back a few more times at least! The employees are friendly, and the prices very reasonable. And there's actually a restroom available to customers, with a fun/funky décor. We definitely made the right choice in coming here!
