I ordered a takeout (three cup squid, delicious!) during my husband's nearby chess tournament, but I accidentally left my wallet there. I didn't realize until we were already back in NJ. I called the restaurant and asked if they could send it back to me through USPS. One of the staff members or owners graciously agreed and even refused to accept any form of compensation. This act of kindness before Christmas touched my heart deeply, and I will always be grateful for the generosity shown by this establishment.
As someone from Taiwan, I can confidently say that this is the best minced pork rice I have found in Philadelphia. The service is exceptional, with food arriving within 5 to 10 minutes of ordering, and the staff always making sure I have everything I need.
I have been a patron of Ho Sai Gai for many years. I first started dining at their location in the Port Richmond shopping plaza on Aramingo Avenue, but unfortunately they had to close due to renovations. However, I continue to frequent their original location in Chinatown. I have never been disappointed with a meal here. While they offer an Americanized version of Chinese food on the menu, they also have a special menu for their Chinese clientele that I wish I could read and understand. The food is always fresh and made by hand, including dumplings, wontons, and egg rolls. It is fascinating to watch them prepare these items behind the counter in the dining area. The owner and server, Young, always greet us warmly and provide attentive service. I highly recommend dining at Ho Sai Gai – the food is always delicious, and next time I will be sure to take pictures of our meal.
If you miss welcoming, comfortable, sit down Chinese restaurants the way they used to be, look no further. This old school Chinese restaurant offers kind, welcoming service, smartly dressed servers with manners personality, classic Chinese Americanfavorites like Egg Foo Young and perfectly made egg rolls alongside more traditional Chinese dishes, you found the place. Ho SaiGai has been around a long time. Definitely getting better with age!
We have known Cathy at this restaurant for many years. They treat us like family and always seem to know what we want before we even sit down. The staff is very friendly and make the dining experience feel like a 5-star experience. We love the crispy soup for 2, scallops with orange walnut sauce, and strawberry chicken. The jumprolls are the best! On Wednesday evenings there is free parking.
