Nellie's Southern Fried Pies

Had strawberry cake from the Strawberry Festival in Thorsby, Alabama

Bought a coconut cream pie as at the local farmer's market is in Peachtree City. It was delicious. Wish you were local. I would buy more the next time.

I was sitting at the bar at Longhorn in Columbus passing time when a gentleman told me about Nellie's. He said I could probably find them at gas stations or Piggly Wiggly. I'm not from the area so I was ecstatic when I saw the pies at Rose Hill restaurant. I HATE these darn pies cuz they are so addictive. The freaking pecan pie one made me want to regurgitate it just to taste it again...I swear! I have to figure out how to get these pies in the Atlanta area!

Seriously y 'all, there is no better fried pie anywhere. I can 't believe I 'm the first to review them and have not done so before. My first fried pie (it 's a single serving for the initiated) came from a wedding reception. How good can it be? I thought. Life-changing. They haunt me. Find her on Facebook. She delivers to various border locations and attends festivals and such but I like to get 'em right off the rack where she cooks them. The owner is as sweet as her pies (sorry for the cliche but it 's true) She 's a gifted artist. Support her. I took a 20 mile detour today just to get some pie. Totally worth it.

The pecan pie was decadently delicious and it was a serious test of willpower for me to not eat the second one my wife brought home for herself. The chocolate one I was saving for the next day was enough to allow me to resist, and it did not disappoint, either. Tasty, tender, flaky crust and wonderful fillings will keep me on the lookout for another opportunity to eat these treats again, the sooner the better!
