The menu was great lots of fish, steak and veggie options. Everything we had was great great sirloin, shrimp risotto, green beans and walleye with roasted vegetable risotto and a strawberry and watermelon salad so good!
Second time at the Terrace Inn did not disappoint! Excellent food, service and cocktails once again. The hostess did a wonderful job of navigating a busy evening for them also.
I recently dined at this restaurant for the first time, and it exceeded my expectations. The Mediterranean chicken dish was particularly delicious, comparable to the one served at Lydia's in Kansas City. The crab cakes and fresh fish were also cooked to perfection. While the prices were not cheap, they were not overly expensive either. I was pleasantly surprised to find a great selection of well-known wines at reasonable prices. The service was a bit slow, but not unbearably so. The beautiful wooden beams and trim in the dining room added to the cozy and welcoming atmosphere. I would definitely return to this restaurant without hesitation.
Disappointed would explain our visit to the Terrace Inn. We both appreciate old, love history, etc. BUT Terrace Inn the 1911 Restaurant needs some TLC. The waitress was fabulous and attentive so let’s get that right up front. The first thing that needs attention are the chairs. My husband had to change chairs because these old chairs rock, sway, etc. (unsafe? . Even the waitress’s comment was “they are old”. The chairs at our table (4 all needed new cushions to give a little boost in height to the table as well. Which would have made our meal more enjoyable. My husband had the plank white fish and his comment was why can’t I get good white fish? Maybe it’s the season? I had the walleye and it comes with vegetable risotto. The fish was good but not great which I was expecting. The sauce that came around the fish was over powering the fish so maybe that was my problem. The risotto was not good, it was very rich and I felt didn’t complement the dish. Bayview is such a neat area and the Terrace Inn/1911 Restaurant should be a complement to this historic Methodist community. But even historic places need refurbished at times. I would recommend trying it, and we would go back on a different Petoskey visit trying something other than fish. Bayview is a very unique community and deserves the visit.
