King's Barbecue - Petersburg

I really enjoyed this restaurant. I love the nostalgic southern vibe it has. They served pork, chicken, and beef BBQ dishes. I also liked the traditional side dishes like coleslaw, fries, Macaroni Salad, and Cornbread. The prices were very affordable.

Was definitely not the quality Kings has been known for. Eating at Kings is generational in my family. The veggies were straight out of the can flavoring and the beef was tough even at a medium as cooked temperature. I can say that mission barbecue has a better quality and flavor rating. Mission is of course more expensive but you will GET some tender cooked meats with flavor and sides that POP! I am still on the look out for a great Mom and Pop barbecue eatery with the flavors to take on BIG BBQ chains! Let's go!!!

We stopped here when we got through. we had such a great experience here. the food was delicious and our waitress was also amazing, friendly, knowledgeable, pumpkin cake was one of the best I ever had. in fact, we will stop here every time we travel through virginia.

This restaurant is a great spot for a quick meal. The atmosphere is pleasant, the staff is friendly, and the food is really delicious. The service is quick, and the BBQ, particularly the pulled pork sandwich, is tasty. The portion sizes are on the smaller side, which is perfect for a fast lunch in my opinion. The prices are very affordable. We stopped by the restaurant a second time on our way back and the BBQ was still amazing.

I first tried King's barbecue as a child and now, over 50 years later, I never pass through Petersburg without stopping at King's. The chopped meat and coleslaw are delicious, but the apple cake is truly heavenly! They also sometimes have entire cakes available for takeaway.
