This restaurant is a hidden gem in NJ. The Chef prepares the most delicious meals, soups, beet salad, and desserts. Carne de Parc (Pork Loin) was fantastic and presentation with a variety of potatoes was artistically awesome. Filet mignon was cooked perfectly. Lobster bisque was tasty and smooth. Beet salad was an excellent starter that also big enough to share as a family size portion. Chocolate dome and Opera dessert were unbelievable. Service waiter and chef wore masks and were very attentive and friendly. We will be returning as it is only about an hour away from our home. That says it all as with so many restaurant choices within 30 minutes driving time BONNE ASSIETTE is a real stand-out for a high quality gourmet dining experience..
A very good first impression of what can literally be called a hidden gem(based on the residential and off street location) It had been about a year since my last French food adventure and I was eagerly awaiting what would be in store for this one. Reservations through Open Table were easy for a Thursday, but likely harder for a weekend. The current menu differs slightly from the website, mainly a few less dishes are offered. I was pretty certain I 'd go for red meat, but the pork specials sounded good too. My co-diner selected a beet salad to start, and the fruit de mer as an entree. I chose French onion soup and the filet. We shared the 1 escargot app on the menu, this was done in a mushroom cream sauce with brioche underneath. We both liked it a lot. The beet salad turned out to be shareable as well, maybe by up to 4 people even! All components were pristine and I 'm not even a beet fan. I 'd definitely make it a point to order this or any other salad while here. The onion soup was even better. I 've been known to make a decent version myself, and I can recall many times where I 've said I can make it better . That ended here. No saltiness just dark and rich beef and onion flavor, the cheese combo on top was sharp and gooey and different than the typical mozzarella or gruyere. The seafood entree was only 1 of 2 on the current menu, the chef mentioned rising costs as the reason for so few. It was well received by my companion, with a good amount of scallops and shrimp in a creamy mushroom sauce, I tried to taste a kale gnocchi but came up with a scallop instead. I thoroughly enjoyed my filet, it was requested medium and was cooked slightly under that but not rare. This was tender and flavorful beef that was further elevated by the herby béarnaise sauce. The asparagus was perfectly cooked and the potatoes went nicely with the entree too. The decor can be described as rustic chic, a homey but also a polished element. There are gift baskets in the dining room that seemed a little out of place, and also a small shop with shelf stable food items that made no sense. Service was very friendly and professional, and we even had a nice chat with chef Assi. I 'll keep an eye on the menu and I plan on returning when new dishes are offered.
Four of us went on our first outing since the pandemic and it was not only lovely but safe. The meals were as always delicious!!The duck was tender and crisp, the filet mignon was succulent and amazing. The chef came out at the end to make sure everything was okay and we were delighted to tell him how exquisite the meal was.
The spot is nice and spacious, the menu was delicious and the prices were very affordable. rapidly, effective service and very friendly staff members. I recommend this place.
