I ordered a special fried rice with curry sauce. The curry sauce was watery and tasteless. The special fried rice was bland and lacked flavor, with large vegetables and oyster sauce overpowering any taste. It was a disappointing meal and I will not be returning to this restaurant. The prawn crackers were also flavorless.
I got this before going on a night out for halloween. I ended up throwing up as I was eating it and my partner who didnt drink alcohol all night and who also only got Sausage and chips threw up towards the end of the night in the taxi which im sure you can imagine wasnt great. Since we both ended up being ill we know it was the food. Not been back since and will not be doing.
We didn't know what to have for tea last night, so called up Lotus to order their set menu B. £17.50 and ready within 20 minutes. Sounded ideal. This set menu comprises 4 duck spring rolls, 5 barbecue ribs, 2 main meals, 2 fried rice and a bag of prawn crackers. For mains, we ordered chicken in green pepper and black bean sauce, and pork in chilli and garlic. First thing we had was the duck spring rolls they were brilliant. So tasty. We'd dipped these into the sauce from the ribs, which whet our appetite for the ribs as the sauce was that good. The ribs were huge, and had a good amount of meat on them. Coupled with the sauce over them, they were godly. The other half loves a black bean sauce, and the one from Lotus is as good as any you'll get. The vegetables within the sauce were perfectly cooked great crispness to them, a sign they were as fresh as possible. My pork in chilli and garlic was equally good, and with a good bit of kick to it. Again, the veg was top notch, the onions in particular. The fried rice was as good as you'd expect it to be. All in all, we concluded that this was as good a meal as we could ever get from a takeaway, and will not hesitate to order it again, whether that's just for us, or if we've got people round. We want to show people how good this place is.
We have just had a takeaway from the lotus, I don't get takeaway food very often and I now know why, it was disgusting, we got a dish of mixed meet with chilly and garlic and it was full of slimy chicken skin on slimy chicken thighs. I have tried to ring and complain and the woman on the phone can't speak English when it comes to complaints but is quite able to take your orders!! Don't go it's appallingly bad. Have some toast.
