On Boxing Day, after a shopping marathon, I needed some food. I sat down in the cafe, and started looking at the menu. Trying to make my mind, one of the employee/owner (Anthony) asked me to order something and reminded me that it's not a public seating. This guy (Anthony) was himself eating like a pig on adjacent table. I said wait, I am still deciding. Not sure what to order, I called my GF for her opinion, who was still shopping. While I was calling her, this guy started to comment again. By this point I didn't want to order anything from here but I did only to avoid embarrassment. I went to the counter only to find more hostile service. Although the food isn't that bad but service is absolutely pathetic. No one should go through this when they are paying full price.
This little coffee kiosk in the middle of Westfield a couple of floors below the food court was a nice little addition to the number of cafes sprawled across the Center. The staff are nice as you approach the counter and the seats are pretty comfy. There's also a pretty good selection of sweets and treats to choose from at the counter, from friands to passionfruit muffins, surely there's something you can find to whet your appetite. The coffee is okay and comes hot (not a fan of lukewarm coffees) so it's the perfect thing to nurse if you're sitting and having a mid shopping break. However, it was a little too bitter beans wise for my personal taste. I like the selection of holders for takeaway because it's always an awkward dilemma to carry around a number of coffees while others go shopping. eatventures.net
As a barista, your role criteria is pretty straight forward. 1. Make decent coffee and 2. Be friendly to your customers... These guys definitely didn't do their homework there. I have never experienced the level of rudeness that the barista here showed me and a friend last week. I stupidly chose this café as I had been here with in-laws a few weeks prior. Ordered 2 coffees from the friendly cashier, but when they arrived my friend (who is severely lactose intolerant) queried her soy latte being soy because it was so burnt she couldn't tell. I took it back and apologised explaining she was intolerant and could they make it again to be sure. The same coffee was bought back to us because 'the barista said it was definitely soy' and my friend then politely asked again if she could have one that wasn't so hot. Almost 15 minutes later (they weren't busy) the furious barista stormed over to our table, demanded to know who ordered the soy, slammed a new soy coffee in front of my friend and said 'the last one was soy. I made it myself!' then stormed off like a tantrum throwing child. Our catch up was ruined. Even my coffee (a regular milk latte) was well below average, hers was burnt to the point she couldn't drink it and I was so close to going up to them and asking for a refund but didn't want to converse with the rude barista again. I've been a barista myself for almost 10 years and I know that it isn't that difficult to replace a coffee if a paying customer isn't happy. Taking it personally only makes you look like a self promoting a**hole and you won't get any customers returning. Will never ever come here again and have told all my friends who live locally to avoid this place at all costs. Just avoid it. Go to 7 eleven or Maccas over this place...
