Great experience from drinks at the bar to attentive and helpful dinner service. Hidden gem!
Amazing waitstaff… Each an everyone was so very nice and attentive! The food, especially the bread and garlic soup was outstanding. The fish chowder shrimp were cooked to perfection… tad bit salty but with bread it was perfect! My roulade was really tasty and way more filling than I expected. And we were convinced to have the chocolate dessert. Wow! Expresso ice cream combined with warm cake was perfect. But just for caffeine and sweet sensitive folk, a choice of vanilla ice cream would have made it just a bit lighter! Definitely the ambiance, the familiarity of the regulars coming in for dinner, and outdoor seating under the warm heat lamps was perfect. … would have loved to hear a few Austrian songs though! Perhaps the live music had it but we went too early for the Tuesday show! Shucks! Will be back!
We love coming back to Naschmarkt as the food is always very good and authentic Austrian. We liked their new restaurant in Palo Alto and had Joe as our server. He was exceptional and did take very good care of us.
The food is totally lackluster and it’s very expensive. Three main courses, one starter one beer and 2 soft drinks were almost $200. And the food was really flat and lacking any complexity of flavor it was simply salty and greasy. The duck confit was dry. The jager schnitzle was just really creamy and salty no acid provided to cut the heaviness. While the restaurant had good buzz and ambiance, I couldn’t justify returning based on the poor quality of the food.
