Long Rifle Lodge - Palmer

We were looking for lunch and that was one of the only spots in the area. The food was not bad, but the glacier view through the large windows and wooden decoration felt so cozy. There were many filled animals placed throughout the dining area. Alaskans love hunting! $16.75 Glacier Burger bacon Cheeseburger w/ crinkle cut fries: Burger was fine, decent boiled, not too dry. $19.75 Cod Sandwich w/ Onion Rings: Not bad, 2 crispy fried cods, crispy fried onion rings $19.75 salmon sandwich w/ Onion rings: salmon fillet looked like it was ground into a salmon cake form All sandwiches were served with roasted Ciabatta bread. $5 Blueberry Pie: This place should have good cake, so we decided to share the blueberry cake. All right. We had a pleasant, filling meal. The real star of the meal was the view.

Enjoyed lunch here after taking the glacier hike. The view looking over the glacier was great and the food and service were also great. Try the blueberry chipotle salmon tacos.

Good place for lunch with a view of Matanuska Glacier. This place is very close to Matanuska hiking point. There is a coin operated telescope at the outside that gives you the close view of glacier. The place is very cozy and staffs are friendly. Got a window seat and enjoyed awesome view with food. We ordered spicy mushroom burger, glacier cookie and black coffee. The food is decent, the glacier cookie is good for 2-3person.

I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The staff were friendly, the bathrooms were clean, and the food was delicious—plus, the prices were very reasonable. The décor, featuring taxidermied animals like bears, a musk ox, mountain goats, and various birds, along with log furniture, added to the charm of the place. For dessert, I enjoyed an apple crisp and a chocolate chip cookie, both topped with ice cream, and they were fantastic. Our waiter, Cole, was attentive and helpful. The view of the glacier from the veranda was absolutely breathtaking! This is definitely a great spot to take visitors. The drive to the restaurant offers stunning scenery, making it a perfect opportunity to stop and capture some amazing photos.

This restaurant is a beautiful hidden gem. The food is consistently delicious, and I’ve enjoyed dining here both as a child and an adult—it's always a delightful experience. The presence of two friendly dogs roaming around adds an extra touch of charm to the atmosphere. With stunning views, fantastic food, and excellent service, this place truly stands out!
