Rio Azul - Palm Springs

I don’t think I’ve ever visited a Mexican restaurant that doesn’t serve chips and salsa until I went to Rio Azul for their "Grand Opening." I ordered the Carnitas, which were quite underwhelming. They came with three lukewarm flour tortillas and just enough onions, cilantro, and other toppings to make a decent taco. This dish was priced at $14. My partner chose a combination plate for $10.25, and I decided to add a small Albondigas soup for $4.25, which was incredibly bland, even the three tiny meatballs floating in the broth. They do offer a choice of fried beans, pinto beans, or black beans. Unfortunately, the black beans were nearly cold, which matched the overall decor. I won’t be giving them a second chance.
