The broth for the spicy chicken was absolutely incredible and rich, while the broth for the little neck clam was clean and light. They serve generous portions, so be prepared to indulge! I recommend trying both dishes at the same time if you're sharing—it's a fantastic combination. The side dishes are also delightful. As for the atmosphere, the restaurant is very small, with only about six tables, creating a cozy, old-school Korean vibe that I really appreciate. There are two older ladies who seem to run the place, and while they only speak Korean, they're very sweet. If you prefer to take your food to go, they pack it carefully in well-sealed containers. I highly recommend this place!
I've been on the hunt for a great kalgooksoo spot in NJ, and while this place was decent, it simply can't compare to Arirang in Flushing. The portions weren't as large as other reviews suggested—perhaps that changed post-COVID—because I left feeling still hungry. I regret not ordering the steamed dumplings. The restaurant is quite small and a bit quiet. I tried the seafood noodles, but unfortunately, it didn't have the rich seafood broth I was hoping for. My partner's kimchi noodles were good, mainly because their kimchi is quite tasty. I might return if I'm in the area, but only if I haven't found another alternative by then. By the way, prices have gone up.
This bowl of Korean chicken noodle soup was exactly what I needed on this frigid winter evening. The cozy restaurant is managed by lovely Korean aunties and features a wide selection of knife-cut noodle bowls. A menu showcasing the various noodle options is displayed on the wall. You can choose either hand-torn dough (soojaebi), regular noodles (kalguksu), or both (kaljaebi). Soojaebi is akin to American dumplings, consisting of thin pieces of dough cooked in soup. I opted for the chicken kalguksu, while my boyfriend tried the kimchi soojaebi. Both dishes arrived piping hot and absolutely delicious! The broth was rich in flavor and perfectly seasoned, and the portion sizes were quite generous—I felt very satisfied after finishing my bowl. Additionally, they serve complimentary banchan (side dishes). I'm already looking forward to returning in the summer to sample their cold noodles!
I looooove this place. My favourite is the spicy chicken sujebi (i prefer sujebi over kalguksu) and my partner loves the anchovy and kimchi sujebi. The bowls are massive, flavour is perfect and the noodles are cooked to perfection. The 2 ladies there remind us of our halmoni's (grandma) cooking back home. Will continue returning to this amazing restaurant!
IMPORTANT! It's not about food. We've been here in November 2020 in the middle of pandemic. They were making dumplings without mask and serve the food without mask or gloves. They were friendly but I felt uncomfortable that they were talking to my baby with no mask. There's other customer right next to our table(it's very tiny 3 table only restaurant). No social distance at all. We might want to go in the future when works is all safe but I don't even want to take out here now. They cook without mask and gloves and cane out to take payment with bare hand. STAY SAFE everyone!
