We had high expectations since the Mill is our favorite restaurant in the Springfield area, and we were really looking forward to dining at the Garrison. I would advise against ordering the fried chicken; it was tough and poorly seasoned. The sweet potatoes were burned and likely the worst I’ve ever tasted. As for the rosemary cake, it was also burned and tasted like pure sugar with no flavor whatsoever. When we tried to express our concerns about the meal to our server, there was no response or acknowledgment of our feedback. Our total bill came to $250 before the tip. On a positive note, the dining room itself is absolutely stunning!
To make matters worse, we were charged extra for some menu items without prior notice. Overall, the meal felt overpriced and uninspired. We had high expectations going in since The Mill is our favorite restaurant in the Springfield area, and we were really looking forward to dining at The Garrison. I was particularly disappointed with the fried chicken—it was tough and poorly seasoned. The burnt sweet potatoes were likely the worst I've ever tasted, and the rosemary cake came out burnt as well, tasting overwhelmingly sweet, like cotton candy, with no real flavor. When we shared our candid thoughts about the food with our server, she simply said, "It's not for everyone." Our bill came to $250 before tip. On a positive note, the restaurant's space is absolutely beautiful!
