The Grapes in Oxford is a charming spot for both doggos and their two-legged pals to unwind. Nestled opposite the theatre, this pub is steeped in history and has been attracting actors, visitors, and locals for years. With a wide array of real ales, fine wines, and small batch spirits, The Grapes is a haven for ale enthusiasts. It is also a dog-friendly establishment, offering specially curated treats for furry friends. Sit in seats that have been occupied by actors and visitors for generations and enjoy freshly prepared food that is sure to warm your heart. Whether you're a tourist or a local, The Grapes is a perfect spot for a pawsome time out.
The kitchen staff at this restaurant are treated poorly, with blame for mistakes being placed on them by management. I would not recommend visiting this establishment as they have no experience in running a pub in Oxford. It is a complete disaster and needs to be inspected urgently by environmental health and safety officials.
After a long period of closure, it's exciting to see the Grapes open once again. As the last traditional pub on George Street, the interior hasn't changed much, but the menu has expanded. While it's still more of a drinking pub, they now offer a variety of dishes like burgers and pizzas. We recently dined there and enjoyed our burgers. One downside is that most tables are tall with stools, but we were lucky to find a standard table with chairs at the back of the pub. The bar offers a great selection of ales, including local and small scale brewery options.
What a great pub, not been in here for several years but the selection of real ale was superb especially the local Wriggly Monkey brews for which they had two. Will definitely visit again
