Oh a review I didn’t want to write. I probably ate original Haywards (95th and Antioch) every week in high school. (SMW). It was a football tradition for us. It was amazing. I’m sorry but the new is not. To be blunt, burnt ends “felt” nuked. Rubbery and chewy and zero flavor. Brisket looked more like beef jerky than brisket. It apparently lived in a steamer tray and not cut fresh. Pulled pork was clearly a steamer tray meat also. It was slimy and soupy and it too was flavorless and not freshly pulled and chunky like I expected. My kid had the ribs and they were good. Meaty and good flavor. I truly wish it was like Hayward Spears created, or even close to. Sadly it was 180°. Maybe it was an off night as I see many positive reviews.
Fantastic! Probably the most underrated BBQ in Kansas City. Hayward’s is better than most.
