Great food! Lovely atmosphere! We'll definitely be back!
It took them 12 hours to serve us, and when the food finally arrived, it had a strange odor. I was appalled to find a maggot in my spaghetti. On top of that, they pressured me into leaving a $120 tip! To make matters worse, they have pet raccoons in the back kitchen, just like in the movie Ratatouille.
There is value in doing one thing and doing it as best as it can be done. In this case, Italian food and specifically pasta. The menu at Le Petit Italien is concise and focused. I ate (can't remember the exact title) a type of bruschetta with white anchovies which was very tasty, unique, appetizing and good. a crudo, which was equally inviting and dressed perfectly a pasta putanesca, my favorite, which I order whenever it is on the menu. Well done, even if the olives were almost too shy for this bold tasting plate. Someone at our table ordered profiteroles (3 on a plate), the chou dough was hard, stuffed with vanilla ice cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce. The service was attentive and prompt. I would have rated this 5 stars if I had not tasted the profiteroles. Next time, I will stick to the Italian theme and order cannoli instead. Overall, a good, well run, comfort food restaurant I would go back to.
Awesome place. Great service and food. The ambience was top notch for the first night of curfew lifting. They had heater lamps placed outside, so it was warm although the weather was chilly. Bernard street is closed for the whole summer so there's a lot of place to seat outside. We came and were served right away.
