As soon as you walk into the stoop you feel the charm and atmosphere! Thislittle shop feels much bigger than it really is, simply because of the way it's set up. The staff were very friendly and helpfulto a newbie such as myself. I had a tuna salad crissont with clam chowder soup (which I've never had before and if all the restare as good as theirs I'm a fan! The sandwich was made to order and prepared behind what was once an old bank tellers counter, complete with bars! After ordering we sat at a fair sized table that was once a large spool for what I would guess would bepower lines. The food was delicious, the staff came around and picked up our tray once they had time and the owner even visitedus to ensure everything was great! On our way out we picked up a cappuccino an apple cider and a couple of cookies for the roadand it was all wonderful! I know I've found myself a new hang out. If your looking for coffee in ottumwa, Top Hat is definitleyTop Shelf!
Adorable, fun coffee shop with a great retro, small town vibe.
Friendly baristas. Awesome coffee. We’ve had their chicken salad lunches and they are some of the best!
Great coffee! I ordered a quad shot latte without flavor, so the coffee flavor itself is important to me. It was delicious! We ordered avocado toast with Pico de gallo (south of the border, avocado toast), and we loved it! I think I'd ask for it to be toasted a little more, but that's just a personal preference. Already thinking about our next visit. It's a nice vibe and great for hanging out and great service where visiting is encouraged without feeling rushed. Thank you! Parking: We were able to get close, free, parking out front.
I walked in and immediately liked the music and look of this little hole-in-the wall coffee shop. To my surprise, it was pretty empty. The two gal’s at the counter were super nice and patient with me while I went over their menu and tried to decide what I wanted. I opted for their Roast Beef wrap without tomatoes. considering how well portioned all the ingredients were, I probably would’ve loved it even with tomatoes. It was a great balance of lettuce, onions, beef and a sauce I couldn’t quite place. 10/10 wrap. Along with my wrap I ordered a large, half and half, triple shot and brown sugar (And cinnamon I think.. not 100% sure) espresso. Normally I hate espresso from coffee shops. 9/10 they use cheap(ish) beans that have a slight burnt taste to it (Typically because the roaster uses a wider variant in bean size, so some beans roast faster and burn). I liked this place’s espresso a lot. It had a nice full body and a balanced bittersweet flavor. It tasted like a lighter medium roast, possibly a true medium roast. I got all that for sub $15. Overall, my brief visit to the Top Hat left me satisfied. I plan to take my Wife there on a date sometime in the future.
