Cantina Gia - Ottawa

It’s no wonder that you pretty much need to book a reservation to eat at Cantina Gia the food is just that good! The lamb ragu was perfectly tender and well seasoned, and the pappardelle was divine. The Gigi was ok, but I didn’t get as much rosemary flavour as I would’ve liked. Don’t expect to hangout here for long after you’ve finished eating there’s most likely another reservation following yours! The food was great, the atmosphere was wonderful, and it was a good experience overall!

The focaccia and arancini were tasty. However, our main courses were a bit bland and lacked seasoning (the spaghetti with meatballs and the daily special of beet and goat cheese pasta). While we had a pleasant experience, we don’t plan to return.

My husband and I went here for our anniversary dinner and it did not disappoint. The Caesar salad is huge and very fresh tasting. The lamb Ragu is highly recommended. There is a lovely melting of flavors, I would definitely get this again on our next visit. My husband really liked the Fungi pasta. Try the GiGi drink. It is tasty and very unique. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was very attentive, and it was a very relaxed and collegial setting. I think her name was Jesse. Overall, this was a wonderful experience, both with regards to food, ambience, and attentiveness from staff. I highly recommend; we will definitely be going again soon.

Food was delicious, from the appetizer (focaccia with pesto and bocconcini cheese)c the main (seafood risotto which was very lemony and delicious, and the pasta with lamb ragout which was so savoury) and the delectable desert (apple cake with toffee). The service was good, but it gets so loud in there ! But to be expected from a bistro. Definitely recommend!

The food is pretty mid, nothing special about it besides the pasta noodle itself was great. But I found everything to be lacking in flavour and very under-seasoned. Wished the bread was served warm, would’ve been nice.The restaurant itself was very beautiful and the waitress/service was great.Probably won’t be coming back… really wanted to love it :
