Benny's bistro - Ottawa

- Great hidden spot tucked away behind the bakery- Small menu but can't go wrong with any of the dishes- Service wasn't great (had to ask for cutlery, didn't check on us after we were served, etc) but quality of food made up for it- Nice coffees- Only recommendation would be to add the bakery options on the menu. Was surprised they were not as French Baker is attached. Seems like a missed opportunity for both places.

Never even knew there was a restaurant behind the bakery. Food is very unique and delicious. Unfortunately service is really slow and not very happy people. Glasses of water were like warm with no ice. Not a very friendly place but food is good

Happened upon this place by looking in the bakery window. What an utter delight. The surroundings are clean and sparse. Not too many tables, and it was full when we arrived.The staff are very friendly and made the 3 generations that we were, very welcome.The menu delightfully small with incredible french cuisine choices. You would need to made sure you have time, because it is not fast service for theses meals. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our food.

We had heard excellent things about this restaurant from our Ottawa friends, but cannot tell anyone what the fuss is about because we were never able to be seated. The restaurant closes at 2:30 p.m. We arrived at 1:45 and were told that the wait would be 15 or 20 minutes. We were still waiting to be seated after about 30 minutes when we asked if we would have a table before the restaurant closes, and were told no (albeit politely and apologetically). The restaurant should have done a much better job of judging how long it would take for the line to move, and not had us waste our time.
