Delicious authentic Italian style pizza in an intimate setting. The dough and sauce are perfect. Not too chewy or flaky. Sauce is not too sweet. The smell of the wood fired oven was awesome, too.
We had a lovely experience and a delicious meal at The Coast. The owner/pizzaiolo recommended a local Hokkaido funky light red from his selection of natural wines. It complimented the shirasu pizza perfectly. A must have if you come here… it’s full of umami and the thinly sliced garlic melts into the flavor of the shirasu. If the owner sends a bit reserved or prickly it might be because it can be a bit overwhelming when his tiny restaurant gets busy and he’s the only one taking orders, pouring and serving drinks, and cooking and serving all of the food. If there’s a quiet moment take the time to talk to him. He’s incredibly friendly and kind. Also worth noting is that he has a serious Japanese pizza lineage. He worked under a pizzaiolo in Okinawa who cut his teeth at Savoy (now Seirinkan one of the best pizza places anywhere).
Small place, friendly owners, great brick oven pizza. Warm cozy on a hokkaido winter night. Dont let the snowy alley scare you away.
今まで日本で食べた中で最高のピザとタコでした。シェフは料理に愛情と気配りを持って調理しています。すべての料理が驚くほど美味しく作られています。素晴らしいサービスで、とても居心地が良く、清潔で親しみやすい雰囲気です。アンチョビのポテトとタコは絶対に試すべきです。
