A 5 star rating would be terrific for this cafe, but I need to try more to be able to award that. But with that said, what I tried was very well made so... I came on a Sunday for Peruvian breakfast, aka desayuno Lurin . It consists of a large green tamale, a fried pork sandwich, and a coffee. It may sound pedestrian, but Oh! No, don 't make that mistake. The sandwich is very big, to begin with, and it has slices of fried sweet potato. The tamale is very tasty, as in lots of spices, and the coffee is a specific Peruvian bean called Chanchamayo , coming from the Amazon Rainforest. If you have been to Peru, this breakfast will take you back there for a mere $20. Right now, this place only has a few tables (hello, cafe and you may have to wait for a table on Sunday. Aloma Cafe also runs weekly specials, typical Peruvian food, so if you like to explore, you should give them a try. And, they make chicha morada in-house (and it is good! and lots of little pastries.
The staff was very friendly. It is a nice place to practice your Spanish.
The food here is incredible! The empanadas are exceptionally juicy, and I had the steak which was delicious. I also tried the cheese ball appetizer, which was wonderfully crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I can't wait to come back for more. Viva la Colombia!
This is one of my favorite cabling restaurants in this opposite. I love the bandeja paisa that they serve here.
