Stepping Stone - Orange

I was in town a few months ago and was told that Stepping Stone was a great place to eat... I walked to the restaurant to be created by a door with a sign "open Tuesday to Saturday".. not this Tuesday night. Next time I thought... so next time has come and Stepping stone was definitely open. Simple if not a tad lacking is what the inside of this restaurant is... it is homely however and the house the restaurant is in is lovely. The menu is very short - always a sign of a good kitchen I feel... limited options means good prep time for each of the limited dishes. Duck was my choice and it was nice. Cooked nicely with a delicious accompanying array of Veges. I liked it.. it was not the most amazing dinner of my life but I certainly enjoyed coming to Orange and Stepping Stone!

This was our third choice of restaurant for the night as we didn't book. The food was of a really high quality. Good night out

A very satisfying, relaxed venue for a romantic meal. Selections available on the menu were varied & interesting. Very attentive staff & great champagne.

After reading all the great reviews we had high expectations of this restaurant, but unfortunately our dining experience was a little lacklustre. The service was slow, the wagyu was just okay and my vegetarian pasta, while tasty enough, was pretty ordinary for a fine diner. For the price, I don't think we'll be going back there any time soon.

All: please be advised this restaurant has closed without notice. My wife and I just arrived for our booking to find it dark and closed (on a sat night).
