Yamaneko Cafe - Onomichi

Sweet baby Jesus, the vegan Japanese plate was absolutely delicious, and I had the dessert too. Super fresh, you can tell they put their heart into their food.

This cafe is adorable and inviting! As one of the few choices in Onomichi, we were a little hesitant, but the food was amazing! Even though there were only 2 vegan options, the quality of the food made up for it. We tried the dinner set for ¥1600, which included a drink (alcohol/soft/tea/coffee). It was a good deal for the portion size! Honestly, it was some of the best Japanese food I've ever had!

A bold call I know. I've travelled Japan three times now and have never had a meal as satisfying as the vegan dinner set I had at Yameneko cafe. Every element was perfect, the pickled vegetables the best I've ever had (and I love pickles and the potato croquettes were to die for. Spiced similar to an Indian samosa and crispy and perfect. The tofu steak is unique and in a flavourful broth, unlike anything I've eaten before. Travel to Onomichi. Even just to eat here. If you don't think it's worth it I'll eat my hat. I'll definitely be back.

Delicious vegan lunch. the croquette, pickles and salat were really nice, but the tofu bullets and the burdock were quite average. the restaurant has a great atmosphere with a lot of cute and artistic decor.
