Our drinks were empty, appetizers were piled high, and we waited a staggering 45 minutes without any food or a server in sight! It took the manager 10 minutes to reach our table, and their response was to offer us a free dessert. How insulting! We were there for over an hour without any food or explanation. When will managers understand that we're not looking for complimentary items, but rather great food and even better service? A free dessert doesn't change the fact that the service was terrible!
We reserved a table for 45 people for a football tournament, but we arrived a bit early and were seated outside. After explaining that the girls needed air conditioning, they kindly moved us inside. Unfortunately, the team couldn't get out of the tournament due to heavy traffic, and in the end, there were only 10 of us. Sean, the manager, was incredibly flexible and understanding, even treating us to a beer! The staff was also very efficient and friendly. I highly recommend The Green Turtle in Olney!
There was a lot of hype surrounding the crab dip, but I found it quite misleading—there was hardly any crab in it. However, I did try the smoked BBQ pork, which was excellent, and I highly recommend it. Our server was very friendly and attentive. I was dining with a group of friends, and we all enjoyed the shaved Brussels sprouts, which were a hit, along with the funnel cake fries. I was also impressed by the variety of IPA options available! I would rate this restaurant a 5 if the crab dip had more crab. The dip was creamy and cheesy, served with pretzel sticks, which was nice. Overall, it was a pretty good experience, especially since it had been three years since my last visit.
We loved to come here, found it always child-friendly and nice staff and good food. And we like to support our local GT. The food was good last night, but I must agree with other negative critics, something changed. The service was always slow here, but I think it got worse. I had to get up from the table to ask for something twice, and these were basic things, not special requests (tartersauce for fish fairy and cheque). We've waited so long for everything. The server is never past our table to see if we needed anything else, we couldn't get their attention at all. We are not high maintenance work, but that was also rough for us.
Terrible. That 's really the only way to sum up our recent experience. Slow service, food took forever, waitress had zero personality- like you took a sedative and were having a bad day on top of that. We were one of 4 tables in the entire restaurant, yet she continuously disappeared throughout our meal. She seemed to have no intention of taking our order after dropping our drinks, so after sitting there with our menus aside patiently waiting for her to come by, we waved her down and let her know we were ready to order. We ordered mozzarella sticks to start and received literally a teaspoon or so of marinara. We asked the waitress for more- when she finally happened to pass near our table. 8 or so minutes later we had to flag her down as she had no intention of stopping by or even making eye contact with us. Our son needed a refill on his water by this time and we asked for one, letting her know that we also no longer needed the marinara as the mozzarella sticks were long gone. She just said, okay , no apology or oops, I forgot. We then waited what seemed like an eternity for our entrees and when they arrived we asked for ketchup and blue cheese. Again- 10 or so minutes go by and our waitress is no where to be seen. We end up asking a man (possibly the manager), and he finally brings the condiments. The food was decent enough and we finally got the check and we 're ready to get out of there. I noticed that I was charged $6.99 for a side of chili instead of $2.00 which is the upcharge to sub it in as your side. I notified the waitress and she brought back the check, having taken off $1.85 instead of the correct amount of $4.99. I then asked to speak to a manager. I asked him to fix the check and also told him of the completely disappointing experience we just had. He responded that he became the manager there about 2 months ago, and that he tries to instill in his servers that customer service and attentiveness are key. So.... I guess that was supposed to be some sort of apology for the horrible experience. Definitely will not be coming back.
