Hoshitori - Old Tappan

I'm not able to dine in tonight, as diving isn't an option due to Covid. The restaurant has a very limited entrance area of about 4 feet, with the rest sectioned off by chairs, so if you're looking to eat in on August 21, you'll want to look elsewhere. However, they do deliver right to your car, which is a great feature. I ordered the chicken teriyaki, which came with generous pieces of onions, broccoli, and mushrooms, all smothered in teriyaki sauce. It was decent, though quite sweet. The huramaki (Japanese spring rolls) were just okay as well. Overall, I enjoyed my meal, but it didn’t have that “OMG, this is amazing!” quality I expect from a place that earns a five-star rating. I'd give it a solid four stars.

The sushi here is both delicious and creative. They have the most stunning presentation for Chirashi in the area! The AVOCADO BOMB is an absolute must-try; we never visit or place an order without getting at least two of them! I discovered a hidden gem in my area! After my friend's recommendation, I finally decided to check out this restaurant and realized I had actually visited it before. I ordered the sushi omakase and was genuinely impressed with the quality of the sushi. As someone who works in the city and regularly dines at high-end Japanese restaurants, I can confidently say that what I experienced at Hoshitori was on par with—and perhaps even better than—some of the well-known pricey establishments run by renowned chefs. If you're looking for top-notch sushi, this is definitely a place you'll want to add to your favorites list.

Amazing sushi! Fresh and first-class quality. Best Grandmakase in NJ! I enjoy sushi at least once a week. Chef Yang overwhelmed my taste buds with the freshest and best ingredients. Good esteem. My only regret. I didn't make all the pictures... post some of the great sushis.

Delicious and inventive sushi. The most beautiful presentation for chirashi in the area! Also the AVOCADO BOMB is a must. We never come in or order out without at least two avo bombs! Also Jay Jenny are the sweetest and always treat us as family each time we dine in. LOVE Hoshitori!
