フィードバックを提供するWe like to support local restaurants and were very excited to try Jojo's cafe. Our first visit was quite disappointing. The wait for the food was quite long and when the food did arrive, it was not of high quality. The service was very poor and the staff were not very friendly, nor did they make us feel welcome. Our experience did not reflect their website at all and sadly, it's not a restaurant I would recommend. It's unfortunate, but at least there are many other local restaurants to support.
We showed up at 1 o'clock, to let the lunch rush dissipate. Ordered the salad special and the Greek pizza special. We waited a fairly lengthy time for the food to show, then finally went to the counter to find out what was wrong. It was sitting in the back waiting. So the pizza was cold and the salad was warm. Go figure.Had to sent the pizza back as it was cool to the touch. Tried the salad, and the first thing up on the fork was the stem the cherry tomatoes were plucked from. Yuk. Went and talked to the chef, and I will give him credit that he seemed truly sorry for our meal. They refunded the cost, and offered us a new pizza. When it finally showed up, the pizza was swimming in tomato sauce, had a VERY thick serving of mozza cheese, a few sliced olives, not a hint of an onion, and there was absolutely NO feta cheese involved at all. But at least it was hot. After trying a few bites, we realized we would never eat here again. Ate as much as we were able to, and left.On a final note, the front end staff seemed quite confused as to which table and patrons the food was to be delivered to. A very disorganized staff. All in all, a very disappointing lunch at what had seemed to be a highly rated restaurant.
The people are really nice at Kayben and the head chef was really helpful up to the event. Our earlier tasting was delicious, however, the meals on the day of weren't very good. Perhaps because it was a big group and they pre-make everything. The salad was great, but the main course left a lot to be desired (chicken) and the portions didn't match - roast beef had huge pieces and chicken was really small. The chicken plates came out almost empty...it was kind of strange to see - as compared to what I'm used to for a plated wedding dinner. It was a summer wedding and they have NO air conditioning and they didn't even turn on all of the fans for our guests or test/fix the lightbulbs ahead of time so we could adjust the lighting for our first dance - we had to ask if we wanted their help. Honestly, for the prices we paid I would have appreciated them being far more pro-active and helpful. I would've complained to them, however, it's family run and I have a feeling they wouldn't have done much.
So fresh you can taste it, so good, I think it was the BLT I ordered, the lettuce and tomato, were so good, and then the smoked bacon and mayo combo come in and drop kick your taste buds.
Lunch was incredible! The food is so flavorful and fresh. Everything is truly handmade with love here. With tons of herbs and veggies fresh from their own garden. You can't beat that. The staff are great and the food didn't take long at all. The setting is so beautiful and it's close to Calgary (and more than worth the trip. and I'm not easy to impress) I will be back again soon for sure! Thanks for fresh, local, and deliciously prepared food.
