フィードバックを提供するI wanted to love this hotel because the pictures are beautiful but, like many others, we had a terrible experience. Our first room was outdated and not very clean (and as a mom of 2 young kids, believe me I’m not picky! but we had to change rooms halfway through our vacation due to mice running around our room. Front desk staff don’t seem interested in addressing any complaints either. The outdoor pool was DISGUSTING! Very cloudy with all kids of bugs, bandaids, and foam floating around. We heard multiple people complain and a staff came in and skimmed one small section then walked right out and never came back. Only good thing about this place is the location. Don’t waste your money here! There are so many other options. We’ll never be back.
We rented a private condo on the 18th floor. 1 of the 2 elevators where down all week and our ceiling was leaking from a condo above. It took 3 days to resolve the issue.
I am going to give you an unbiased opinion on what the hotel's pro's and con's are based on an experienced traveler. Pro's. Beach front balcony was 5 star. Near the beach. Differentiation in hotel with the ice rink! Pretty cool, and an in hotel Starbucks! Cons. (Starbucks is limited in what they offer) Room AC does not work. It's a fan with a slightly cool breeze. It's overly apparent that this is a recurring theme given the reviews (maintenance is NOT working on this, I see a plug in heater in the closet, the AC/Heater hasnt been working since at least last season). Bed is SUPER firm and spring based. I could not sleep a wink. The room smelt like weed, turns out it is the room below and it just seaped up. Bathroom's last remodel was 1995. Listen if you are here for a night and don't care about your sleep, have at it. For a 3-4 night stay, I suggest finding something else! Pay a few extra bucks for a named hotel, visit the Ice rink as a non-guest. You can still ice skate! Repeat negative reviews don't look good. The pools are not cleaned appropriately, they are so cloudy one can't see the bottom. There's a reason this place still has rooms a week before your trip.
This was not our first stay at the Carousel, but it may be our last. While the resort certainly offers a lot of family-friendly options, there are noticeable gaps when it comes to the “client experience”. We arrived with two separate groups of friends, and only one of our group was allowed to check in even though we all had similar reservations. The WiFi was not working, and despite escalating to a manager I was told it was my fault (note: other parties were complaining about the same issue). While our initial room was fine, one person in our party found that their room smelled of urine after check in, and they needed to transfer rooms. On Day 2 of our stay we came back to our room to discover it reeked of some sort of dead animal in the vent—initially the staff tried to claim it was the garbage from the restaurant, but nevertheless we we switched rooms. The dining experience was similarly fraught with unnecessary stress. One meal, which was supposed to be a split check, wound up being charged completely to one party, and another inexplicably was also charged (pro-rated) to the other parties. When confronted with this fact, the hotel then re-charged all of us again instead of crediting back the over-charge. Another meal ended with a surprise double-gratuity being added to the bill—we were a large party, and anticipated a 20% automatic tip added to the bill—which the hotel did—but they also then added an additional 20% “service fee”. Very shady, and if not for looking at the bill it probably would have gone unnoticed. If you made it this far you probably think this place is awful. It is not. There are many positive things about this place. The staff is basically all foreigners with summer work visas, and their lack of insight certainly makes getting real solutions more difficult. However, the hotel has a lot of fun activities for younger kids; offers great pool options (even though there is no supervision to keep rowdy kids from disturbing the peace) provides easy access to the beach; and is generally a good deal (price wise). Unfortunately the latest experience has led us to likely look elsewhere next time we come to Ocean City.
The hotel room was not good. Service was bad until I got a call from the manager she was really nice. I love the location. I stayed in tje the condos before and loved it bit tje hotel needs to do some major upgrades for the money they charge.
