Palmetto - Oakland

Considering the price, we expected great, warm, and friendly service. Unfortunately, our waitress seemed to have the hip factor but lacked friendliness and customer care. She appeared without introducing herself, sharing specials, or giving any kind of warm greeting. Instead, she just casually asked if we were ready to order. It was a bit off-putting. We ordered four appetizers for the four of us, expecting substantial portions given the price range of $14-20 each. However, the appetizers were more like small bites. The cocktail shrimp were okay, but nothing extraordinary. We also tried escargot for the first time, which was fun but again, the portions were tiny. For our main course, our friends ordered the trout while we opted for the pork chop. I must say, the pork chop was delicious, but the portion size was disappointingly small. It was barely enough to satisfy one person, especially for the price of $45. I enjoyed my pisco drink and the ambiance was nice, but overall, we felt like we didn't get our money's worth in terms of portion sizes and friendly service. In the end, our experience didn't meet our expectations.

This restaurant is a must-visit. I went there alone and ended up in my own bed because the food was so delicious.

Excellent service and cocktails. There's a Mon-Thurs vermouth happy hour too. The wait-staff were friendly and attentive. Many of them might have more tattoos than the BOH crew

The restaurant has amazing art deco vibes. The food is excellent, the service is amazing, and the cocktails are perfect. I visited before a show while in town from Seattle and would definitely return. The scallop crudo is absolutely delicious.
