Taurus Thai Restaurant - NORTHMEAD

Not the fanciest food around and if your looking for typical western style food with chilli jam on every second dish then probably not for you. If on the other hand you are after good value tastes of Thailand this could be what your after. A tasty feed without blowing the budget. We always takeaway and we always go back again.

First time I went to this sparsley decorated Thai restaurant but it seems clean and funcational with odd out of place left over furniture. We had several dishes BBQ Chiken for entree however the menu does not decribe what it was, how it was prepeared and the staff all though very pleasant could not seem to convey it either, basically we ended up with what would best be described as Chicken on skewers BBQ, it was dry and lacked any real flavour. For mains we had the Ginger Chicken, Well we could barley eat it, the peices of Ginger in the meal where as long as your finger and a good 3-4 cmround, unfortunatley I find when using such large peices of ginger that have not been cooked through (bllanched) they over powered the dish completley and actually burnt out mouth with the raw power of the ginger and there was as much ginger as there was chicken, the other main was a Garlic and Pepper beef, the driest piece of meat I have had in a very long time, the meat being so dry was tough and very hard to chew, the flavor was say a 3.5 out 5 however when your spending so much time chewing, it takes the pleasure of the flavor away. The Pad Thai, well it was just lack luster and just like you may find for $8 in any food court around the world. it surprises me that they do not try a little harder as there is 5-6 Thai Restaurants with in 1-3 blocks from this one. So the best I can say is the staff were very nice. Maybe it was a bad day even though it was a Thursday night there was only 2 tables of 2 occupied and table of 4 and one of 2 that had been used but not cleaned yet, not many customers at that time should really have given me an idea. They do do take away but I do not see that would make the food nay better. I would like to give it a 1.5 out of 5 but TripAdvisor does not have half points.

What a great place to grab an honest homely meal. The service was wonderful! We were greeted with a warm smile and waitress was happy to accommodate our request. Prices is perfect too! Will definitely be back.

You won't be disappointed with the price. If you've got a big appetite give this a go. The servings are big and the price is right. The pineapple prawn fried rice is a favourite of ours.

Normally I will dine-in before a review but since this place is less than a mile away, I decided to order a takeaway on a rainy day.
