フィードバックを提供するWe drive about 1.5 hours every year to visit Northfield mostly so we can visit Tanzenwald! The beer is amazing and the food is darn tasty! Our server, Alicia, was the best. She was friendly, made good suggestions, and was very helpful. We made reservations and were happy we did because it fills up quick! Definitely worth a visit!
It's hard to find a brewery with an in-house kitchen, esp one that makes good beer and good food. Tanzenwald hit both marks for us. I had a flight with their IPAs and hefeweizen, all 4 were great. My wife had the seltzer daiquiri and loved it. The food was great as well. As a born-Wisconsinite, their cheese curds were phenomenal, perfectly battered and delightful. The sauce was an added bonus, simple spicy mayo, but worked with the cheese curds. We had burger and kielbasa for dinner. The burger was delicious and juicy, while the kielbasa was perfectly cooked and cut, with beer cheese and house-made sauerkraut on top. A Midwest/German haven.
First of all, I would like you to know this review is based on many times here probably close to 20 visits all the way back to the grand opening and usually with a small group of friends. Review doesn't have much to do with the food. The few times I've sampled anything it's been adequate. It has to do mostly with the service and attitude. The only time I actually thought it was fun was the Grand Opening. Almost every other time we all left the place in disappointment. The only brewery I can think of that always has a somewhat uneasy, unhelpful, ungrateful vibe from almost all of the employees throughout the years. It's almost like your inconveniencing them by coming to the establishment. I have come to believe this must be instilled from ownership? The thing is the group of us always agree that it is a very strange and unappealing vibe. It is very unfortunate as it is a super cool building and the town of Northfield deserves so much better! I could go on and on with each experience, but have to think when the majority of the people I've ever gone there with agrees, totally making me feel that it isn't just me. I've typically been able to find an average to above average beer, and that isn't the problem. If you're looking for a fun, happy appealing vibe, my suggestion would be to avoid this place at all cost. As I know I will be.
Excellent staff, great beer, great food. Non-gendered bathrooms with interesting wall art.
Stopped here for dinner while I was traveling for work. The food I had was out of this world and the beers were equally as good. So good in fact I had dinner a second night.
