フィードバックを提供するI had a great time at this restaurant, enjoying the vegan dumplings and pancakes. The service was friendly too.
The first time I visited this restaurant, I ordered the veganized Dan Dan Noodle and was mistakenly served meat instead. On my second visit, I had a lengthy conversation with three different staff members who seemed to be confused about the difference between vegan and vegetarian. I kept asking for a vegan dish, only to be repeatedly told "vegetarian?" It appears that the Dan Dan noodles are not made with egg noodles, so the vegetarian version should be vegan by default. Despite the confusion, the food itself was delicious. It can be frustrating to have to specify "no egg, no dairy, no meat" every time, especially when the menu already offers vegan and vegetarian options.
I really enjoy Munchy Monk! There are a variety of options to choose from, all meant for sharing. I've tried everything vegan on the menu and highly suggest the Munchy Monk dumplings and the vegan Dan Dan noodles. I would like to see more variety added as the current offerings are quite similar. This restaurant is a great choice for both vegans and non-vegans, as the vegan dishes are very approachable. Many of my friends also love it! The prices are a bit high for what you get, and the menu doesn't change often, so the options can become repetitive. Despite this, I will definitely be back.
Visited here with a non-veg family friend tonight and ordered the vegetarian version of the Dan Dan noodles. The menu says it's vegetarian but it's also vegan as well. Really liked how well the noodles soaked up the gravy! The heat doesn't hit your tastebuds straightaway but lingers once it does. I think they could have been a bit more generous with the toppings though, considering there was no difference in price between the veg and non-veg noodles. I also think that asking between $14-15 for 7 dumplings is pricey. Having said that, it's definitely a solid option. Munchy Monk might be one of those places where the menu is better designed for sharing a bit of everything.
When I first came here, I ordered the veganized dan noodle and was served meat. the second time I had a long conversation with not one, not two, but three of the workers who work here before it became very clear that they have no idea what the difference between vegan and vegetarian is. I have always asked for vegan dishes, then it is said vegetarian. it seems that the dan dan noodles are not inflatable, but so the vegetarian version should also be vegan by default. at least as far as I could say. eating is great. it is a pain, but they must go through all the tired rigmarole of listing no egg, no milk, no meat', although the menu recognizes that there are vegan and vegetarian options.
