The food however was lacking in quality, bacon tasteless and hash brown deep fried with beans- simple but no frills. Staff were friendly but quality of food wasn’t the best.
The lady who owns the shop, when I questioned why our bill was £10 over, her whole body tone immediately changed she was so rude Infront of my 10 year old son it was unreal,I'm still so upset over it,we got told they were still serving breakfast but had no bacon which we were all fine about, but we all should of had extras of something or charged less, when it came it was luke warm, kids only got 1 sausage and 1 of them only had 1 hash brown the other didn't have one at all,we got served CRUSTS we don't eat the crust at home and never ever been served them whilst eating out before, when I said you have charged me way too much oh my days she was livid said no I haven't I said I looked on the menu added it up and its £33.25 she charged me £43.75and kids didn't have hardly anything she then went onto say well the reason is because I don't do breakfast after 12
The ultimate thing I have to say about Poppy's is that you get a really, really good experience for the price you pay. Myself and a friend had a big, long lunch for £17 total, and the experience was great! The menu is relatively limited and simple, but everything served is delicious, well made, and as described on the menu. I highly recommend the scone with jam and clotted cream, it was delicious. The service was excellent so polite, positive, and generally lovely. The place was clean and tidy, with plenty of seating upstairs. The whole shop isn't wheelchair accessible at all, just as an FYI if you're planning to go. Poppy's is the kind of place I'd end up in frequently if I lived in Ashby de la Zouch. It was a great lunch and I'd highly recommend dropping in.
Only recently reopened after a long lockdown, the service was fine and we felt safe and relaxed. The food was as expected in a small cafe, my ploughman's was generous and nothing overpriced. If we were not watching our weight, we would have been tempted by the ice-cream sundaes!
Basic food with good service. The produce used could have been better and was very average. Unfortunately I could have done better at home. Service and staff were very friendly and hard working.
