2nd time I have been to yYum Yums. Loved it after covid and could nit f I nd good food so I could eat. IT WAS GREAT and I finally put food in my stomach. Lived it again the next the last time I will be back.
I’m not in the area very often but I would say that this is a small, family owned business trying to get started. I’ll start with the interior of the restaurant needs a little work but I felt that the place was clean. But the food is always the most important part and their food is really good. I had the Lentil Soup and the Shish Kafta. I’m not an expert on middle eastern or Mediterranean cuisine but have enough experience to have some ideas of expected flavors. The lentil soup (yellow lentil I think) was really good and a different flavor than from the European style soups. The Shish Kafta is excellent! I’m not sure if I’ve ever had it before but man did I love eating this! I didn’t ask about the meat composition but I know they are often a mix of meats like gyros. Anyway, the flavoring was amazing (I detected the parsley but don’t know the other spices) and the cook was really nice a light charring on the outside but soft and flavorful on the inside. The Shish was served on a bed of delicious rice mixed that had a little vermicelli mixed in. On the side was what I think was a yogurt sauce that went well with the meat. I have to come back so I can be educated on all the items. I got a ton of food for the money and everything was delicious.
Friday evening at 8pm I arrived to pick up my online order and the restaurant was 100% empty. Beef was so tough that it was literally inedible and I threw it in the trash when I got home. It tasted, and looked, like it had been microwaved. The chicken was very plain, but edible and disappointing. The fries were of the typical frozen fast food type. The tzatziki sauce was a watery and runny mess that looked absolutely gross. It was also thrown into the trash. Real kicker was that I paid extra for the sauce. $6.48 got me a styrofoam container wrapped in plastic that luckily didn 't spill everywhere into my car and I feel absolutely ripped off. The teenager (maybe 14? that was running the restaurant when I arrived could barely process my online order. Poor kid couldn 't even open the cash drawer and the adults in the kitchen never came out to help (I saw them three times . Also, when I asked why my extra sauce came in a strange leaky container he mentioned something about the size of the previous containers with lids saying sizes were ripping off customers . Um, what? No, it was the disgusting sauce that was a ripoff. Second time trying this place and it will be my absolute last time giving them money.
