Bononia - North Adelaide

Bononia is a charming little dessert café. It is happy place with friendly staff, and the sparkly lights at night-time gives a fairy-tale atmosphere. A compact space, just right for pausing over an espresso or affogato with a little sweet treat on the side. Perhaps a biscotto or small cake, or some of the house-made gelati.<br/ <br/ There are a couple of dozen gelati flavours, including dairy and non-dairy options. Star flavour is the crema antica – egg custard gelato with lemon.

Delicious gelati. I had the Bononia (house gelati which was custard based) and Cassata. Creamy and very yum. Excellent service and friendly owner. I'll be back!

For me Bononio is the best Gelato in Adelaide! They truly take pride in their craft which is demonstrated by the creativity in their flavours on offer. I recently had their 'Strega single-portion ', which truly encapsulates the rich Strega flavour in a Gelato form. It 's an acquired taste, but if you enjoy Italian liqueurs you will love this stirring rendition! Also, have tried their signature 'Bononia ' flavour which is a delightful and has a unique citrus presence! The proprietors are also nice and their passion for what they do is on show, whenever you ask for a recommendation or a description of a flavour! I 'll say it again, Bononia has the best Gelato in Adelaide; and that 's not so much a comment on the competitors, as much as it is a comment on Bononia 's level of quality.

Love their pastries! Almond croissant and torsadine are a few of my favs. So glad I could order them via Menulog for an early morning breakfast delivery. A pity you can't order their lovely tarts or cakes on the app, but I was surprised they gave me a choc tart with my order! Thank you :
